ISBANBAN Foundation is a youth-led non-profit social foundation established on February, 10th 2013. The main goal of the foundation is to help children from underprivileged families from the rural area of Banten to get access to quality education. ISBANBAN’s vision is to make sure that every child in the area of Banten can ‘Access and Excellence of Education’.
In addition, the mission is to inspire youth to start a movement, which contributes to ensuring that children growing up in underprivileged families get lifelong learning opportunities.
Where are they based?
Started in Banten area, now ISBANBAN also covers Cilegon, Serang, Tanggerang, Lebak, Panggelang, and Tanggerang Selatan areas.
Which genre/cause do they work for?
The main genre they focus on is child & youth development. Therefore, one of their main focus is to make sure that underprivileged children who are otherwise deprived of formal education can get access to good quality education. They focus on helping kids develop skills via their weekly program. Their programs have 3 main goals:
- Improve access of education
- Increase reading literacy
- Increase school participation rate
Equal Education for All
According to the UN, 262 million children and youth aged 6 to 17 were still out of school in 2017, and more than half of children and adolescents are not meeting minimum proficiency standards in reading and mathematics.
Why are they working for Education for Underprivileged Children?
Based on the data, education in Banten ranks the lowest in terms of quality & access. Almost 50% of Banten children fail to obtain any kind of formal education, which means education is still categorized as a rare thing to get in the area.

Can you volunteer with ISBANBAN?
