Girl Up Indonesia is a movement for women from women. They are committed to supporting, educating, and carrying out activities—to provide opportunities for every girl to maximize their potential. The Girl Up initiative facilitates young women in Indonesia to become leaders and agents of change-making in their respective communities. Girl Up Indonesia is a part of a global campaign comprising of 100 countries.
Under Girl Up Indonesia, there is the Girl Up Club.
Where is Girl Up Indonesia based?
They has 12 regional communities/clubs based in universities and cities;Girl Up Bogor, ITS, Bandung, Unpad, Jakarta, UGM, Brawijaya, UI, and Malang. There are more than 1,800 Girl Up clubs internationally.
What Genre do they focus on?
The main focus of the organization is gender equality. The progressive movement continues to strive for gender equality for women in the realm of leadership and active involvement in various public/private sectors. The big goal—more participants (individuals/groups) are involved in a sustainable manner. They provide a safe platform for students and women activists in voicing the partisanship voices of and for women through several programs.
Why do they focus on issues related to women and gender equality?
Girl Up Indonesia, as a safe platform for young Indonesian women, is aimed at opening networks, supporting one another, and fighting for the empowerment of women in Indonesia. In overcoming this, they have created a leadership capacity building program for young Indonesian women as well as education on women’s empowerment, gender equality, and exchange of ideas.
What kind of programs do they run?
They are a part of a UN Foundation initiative. The program initiative is aimed at providing full support to young girls under the 5 core pillars; education, health, safety, leadership, and documentation.
The five pillars are generated through program methods that are run both independently and collectively with organizations that share the same values. The programs carried out so far have focused on talk shows, seminars, and strengthening internal capacity, with the main target on women as impact drivers.

They are a member of the UN Foundation which was initiated in 2010.
When did they officially established?
Girl Up Indonesia was set up in 2019 and later founded several Girl Up clubs spread across several regions.
